LYLA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FATHER QUICKLY BREAKS DOWN—Saracen (Zach Gilford) continues to struggle caring for his grandmother as her mental health rapidly deteriorates. Lyla (Minka Kelly) is still reeling after discovering her father gambled away her college fund when she learns that she has been accepted to the college of her dreams. Despite a well-played game on Friday night, tensions between J.D. (guest star Jeremy Sumpter) and Joe (guest star D.W. Moffett) reach a boiling point. Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Taylor Kitsch, Adrienne Palicki and Jesse Plemons also star.

Friday Night Lights airs tonight at 9pm on NBC.

American Music Award winner Taylor Swift joins the roster of superstar performances lined-up for the 2009 "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno's Mercedes-Benz Outdoor Concert Series." The country singer will rock the Burbank Studio Lot on April 2.

Held in the NBC Studio midway in Burbank, the 2009 outdoor concert series features some of the biggest names in music, including Randy Travis (March 13), Prince (March 27), Fall Out Boy (March 31), and Miley Cyrus (April 3). The Fray kicked off this year's event with a performance on March 2.

Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway may be better known for her serious roles, but she'll be showing off her funny bone on the small screen! Life & Style has learned that the starlet recently visited Fox Studios in LA to tape a surprise cameo for an upcoming episode of Family Guy. "Anne is a longtime fan of the show. She hadn't considered guest-starring until series creator Seth MacFarlane approached her," an insider tells Life & Style. "He pitched Anne an episode idea that completely cracked her up. She didn't even have to think it over -- she wanted in!" This isn't the first time Anne's lent her voice to the cartoon world; she taped an episode of The Simpsons earlier this year.

Just in time for their one-year wedding anniversary, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are planning to tie the knot again! In an exclusive interview with In Touch, Nick revealed that he and his wife have a big party in the works. “We have spoken about it, and it’s coming up — that’s all I can say,” the 28-year-old told In Touch during a party sponsored by Grey Goose vodka at Underground club in Chicago on March 5. “We are going to do what we said we were going to do from the very beginning.” After their intimate surprise wedding in the Bahamas last April, Mariah promised Ellen DeGeneres that she and Nick would throw another huge wedding for the family members and friends who weren’t there the first time. “Instead of trying to be like, ‘You’re invited, but shhh, don’t tell anybody,’ we’re just going to have another one next year,” she explained.

From executive producer Michael Green (NBC’s "Heroes") comes a riveting new drama about a modern day monarchy. "Kings" is a contemporary re-telling of the timeless tale of David and Goliath. This series is an epic story of greed and power, war and romance, forbidden loves and secret alliances -- and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom.

King Silas Benjamin (Ian McShane, "Deadwood") is the well-entrenched king of Gilboa, whose flag bears a divine butterfly symbol. Gilboa has its capital in Shiloh, a clean new city that is unspoiled by time or litter. Silas must deal with the tensions rising between Gilboa and neighboring nation Gath. When several prisoners of war are taken, a young soldier, David Shepherd (Chris Egan, "Eragon"), defies orders and crosses enemy lines to save them. Unknown to David, the soldier he saves is Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan, "The Covenant"), the son of the king. From that day forth, David’s life will never be the same.

Susanna Thompson ("Once & Again") plays Queen Rose Benjamin, a distant, yet supportive wife. Allison Miller ("Lucy’s Piano") stars as King Silas’ beautiful, intelligent and outspoken daughter, Michelle. General Linus Abner (Wes Studi, "Comanche Moon," "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee"), Reverend Ephram Samuels (Eamonn Walker, "Oz") and William Cross, Silas’ brother-in-law (Dylan Baker, "Spiderman 2"), try to influence King Silas.

"Kings" premieres this Sunday on NBC. Here's a sneak peek:

MEYERS - "Republican National Committee leader Michael Steele said recently that he plans to bring the GOP message to urban and suburban hip hop settings and the message is "off the hook." Though what else would you expect from a man who once got busy in a Burger King bathroom."

MEYERS - "This Tuesday, which was 3/3/09, was Square Root Day and will not occur again until April 4, 2016. If you already knew that, gimme your lunch money."

The countdown to the inevitable Pete Wentz cameo has begun!!

Multiple sources confirm to Entertainment Weekly's EW.com
that singer-songwriter-sometime actress Ashlee Simpson has become the latest tenant of The CW's in-the-works Melrose Place reboot.

The onetime 7th Heaven star will play small-town girl Violet, a character whose disarming naiveté masks the calculating, shrewd sex kitten within. In other words, the little tramp's Sydney.

Simpson joins a cast that so far includes Katie Cassidy (as ambitious publicist Ella), Michael Rady (as aspiring filmmaker Jonah), and, if there is a God, original Melrose icon Heather Locklear, who would be slipping back into Amanda Woodward's office microminis. "Both sides are talking," whispers EW.com's Melrose mole of Locklear. "It's looking good."

Melrose 2.0, which is considered a lock to land a spot on The CW's fall sked (most likely on Tuesdays after 90210), is being shepherded by Smallville's Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin. Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) has been tapped to direct the pilot.

Now for the big question: Did Simpson score the part that Mischa Barton had been circling? EW.com's sources say no. That means the ex-O.C. siren is in talks to play straight-arrow med student Lauren or revoltingly sweet schoolteacher Riley.

Despite claims that Megan Fox and her longtime fiancé, Brian Austin Green, split last week, close friends of the couple insist that it’s not true. “They didn’t break up,” an insider reports exclusively to In Touch .

“They hit a rough patch. But in every long-term relationship, people go through ups and downs.” Indeed, though they were rumored to have ended their two-year engagement in February, Megan, 22, and Brian, 35, seem to be sticking to their regular routine: This week, the Transformers star took Brian’s 6-year-old son, Kassius, to school as she normally does, and the pair were also seen holding hands in public. “These two are very much in love and plan to be together for a long time,” says a friend. Another friend adds that recently, Megan and Brian, who have been together since 2004, even agreed to seek help for their relationship problems. “In early March, they decided to enter counseling in hopes of staying together,” says the pal. “It was a mutual decision. Lots of couples go to therapy together, and they are committed to try and make it work.” “He’s a really great person,” says Megan of Brian. “When I’m not working, I’m at home [with him] all the time.”

Justing Timberlake and Jessica Biel, as Jessica Rabbit, made a surprise appearance last night on SNL's Weekend Update:

How I Met Your Mother Scoop

Posted by bloggergal | 8:47 AM | | 0 comments »

How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays tells Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello exclusively that the sitcom's central mystery is about to be solved. Or rather, resolved. At least kinda-sorta.

"At the end of the season, we will address the title of our show," reveals Bays, adding that the last four episodes will feature "big events in the lives of our characters -- specifically Ted (Josh Radnor). We're going to wrap up some things that have been left dangling."

Translation: Ausiello thinks the M-bomb's about to be dropped!

Bays wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the revelation (i.e. Will the mom actually be ID'd?) or how it might figure into this season's cliffhanger. "But I will say at the very least that the season will end with a complete sentence," he teases. "We've left some sentence fragments dangling in past seasons, but this year, there will either be a period, a question mark or an exclamation point. We will be giving the audience that."
